  1. The Professor reviews the GoLabs 299wh LiFePO4 solar generator with bi-directional 60W USB PD port, QC USB, and 300w pure sine inverter. Is it the best bang for the buck Jackery competitor under $200? GOLABS 300: https://amzn.to/3clmLu8
CLIP $80 COUPON FIRST then use code HOBOTECH1 at checkout. The final price with $80 coupon and code HOBOTECH1 is $198.98!
Anyone that paid over $199 will get a refund from GOLABS through Amazon!

  2. I love your videos, they are very well done and informative. But FYI, most ham radios will run off the 12 volt ports. Maybe larger 10 meter rigs run off 110 but from my experience most if not all vhf/uhf radios are made to be installed in a vehicle so they run directly off 12 volts. Keep up the great work.

  3. Impressive value. Great build quality, small and light, quiet, multiple outputs, charging while using outputs. Many more too numerous to mention. HOBOTECH on YouTube does a detailed review, with tests and tear down. Customer support by email (with one business day turnaround) is stellar. I received these tips from GoLabs Customer Support (this info is not in the user guide): First time use. When you receive the GOLABS portable power station, please fully discharge causing it to turn off automatically, then fully charge the power station as noted below. In order to fully charge the power station, please do not disconnect the power when charging for the first time, and then disconnect the power after it is fully charged. For you to better use our power station, here are some tips about recharging by the solar panel. The input power range of our GOLABS R300 power station is 10.8-23.5V (built in MPPT). We recommend 80W-100W solar panels. In order to better use the solar panel to recharge our power station, we hope you can contact the seller first to confirm the max peak voltage of the solar panel, as you know the voltage when no load is higher than with load.

If the open circuit voltage slightly exceeds 23.5V, it will trigger E09 error (DC over-voltage protection), it is normal. Do not worry, please. For the E09 error, you can use the two ways as follow to resolve it:

Remove E09 error: when the E09 error appears, please kindly wait for 10-20s and then the error will be removed automatically.

Avoid E09 error: please kindly fold the partial solar panel to make the voltage be low first, and then completely open the solar panel when the voltage is stable.

  4. I strongly recommend that your standardize your musical instrument amp noise test to include having the amp at it's maximum cord length away from the inverter.
That is because you can have both near field, far field, and conducted noise from the generator appear in the amplifier output if the amp is too close to the digital noise source.
Distance greatly reduces the first two…
All players need to concentrate on those things they can control, and the distance between the generator and the instrument amp is the one thing they can control, (at least to the limits of the length of the power cord)…
    .
If you want hair like doc in back to the future, you may be able to do it without a wig if you have access to a good static generator.

  5. It's obvious that these devices are going to come down in price and up in capability over the next few years. If you don't need one now you'll get a better deal in 3 months.

  6. Can you charge the AC and USB C at the same time to reduce the charge time? Would that take 3 hours instead of 6 hours?

  7. I read an Amazon review that claimed running a 12-volt cooler on this unit is problematic because the unit has a timer that shuts it off after a certain amount of time if it's not used. I'm curious if this is true. Great review!!

  8. Anyone figured out how much is needed to run a typical kitchen fridge? I’d like to get one of these style of units to use ina whole day power outage that Icanuse solar to recharge and plug my fridge into and run it for a few hours.

  9. The professor mentions in the video using bougerv 180 Solar panel. Can anyone explain the significant advantage that would have over using say just a rich 100w panel?

  10. I just purchased one. Thank you! I've been looking forever. Just one question, can I use my small 6watt small solar panel to charge really slow?

  11. Hi Professor Hobo: What type or size of power supply would you need to run a standard 20-inch Box Fan for 6 – 8 hours continuously without the supply needing recharge? Thanks so much in advance!

  12. What can I do to keep it from turning off when the power draw is low? Trying to power up a wyze camera, but it turns off after 8 hours. Thanks and love your channel

  13. Professor Hobo – I'm wondering why you haven't reviewed and don't mention the
Bluetti AC30 as a competitor to this unit? Bluetti seems to be a top brand from what I've read, you certainly have endorsed several of their other products. The AC30 is a 300Wh/300W LiFePo4 so-gen. It's being sold at the same $199 price point right now. Seems like a direct competitor to me… Why no review of it?

  14. I got my new rockpals 300 on sale on Amazon for 179 with free shipping. It would be awesome if you reviewed it too so I'd know how they compare. I love my rockpals and my 100w renergy solor panel. Thanks.

  15. Just my 2 cents dealing with GoLabs, which is pretty good…I bought a GoLabs R150 (204aH LiFePO4 batt, looks similar) about a week ago. After charging it new to 100%, I tried charging various devices… No problem until I used the 150 watt AC inverter to charge a tablet…it stopped charging the tablet (almost fully charged it to 97%). The remaining capacity of the power station was at an indicated 48%. I couldn't get the AC inverter to work so I recharged the station to 100%. That didn't help…in fact both the AC inverter and the led light stopped working but the USB ports still worked, for some reason. I communicated the problem to Golabs but decided to return it anyway to Amazon. Golabs actually responded very quickly (within 24 hours) and suggested I send a video of the problem I was having and assured me if their techs couldn't resolve the issue, they would send me out a new one without requiring the defective unit return. I was very impressed that like Prof Hobo said, they stand behind their products. Even though I sent the unit back before I received their email, I ordered another one through Amazon….and even a R300 today after watching Prof Hobo's review. I mean, what do you have to lose? Well done Golabs and thanks to the Professor.. By the way, both the link and adding HOBOTECH1 at checkout, did work for me.

  16. This sounds like a great starter generator for me!!! As I am only looking to charge phones and maybe run a fan or lights while camping for a couple of days. As I am such a NOOB and do not really understand all of the numbers you throw out in your reviews. I am wondering if you could recommend a solar panel to purchase also. I am hoping for under $125 or so. Quickly charging the generator is not a huge concern. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

  17. my GOLABS fried when I plugged a 12V resistive charge, leading to a E02 error. Golabs support responded the same day offering a refund or an exchange. Not sure what broke in there as, from your findings, the 12V is unregulated.
So I guess it's the "electronic switch" that enable the 12V outlet that fried ?
The 12V output circuit is connected to a 75N08 mosfet. It seems to be OK but I guess I will have to remove it to test it correctly.
Hopefully, the 110V + USB + charging port are still working…
